Service Description

Level 1 teaches the first few moves of country swing with the connection, frame, footwork, timing, and communication techniques that make those moves feel good. This 1B class is designed for (1) bar dancers who have learned moves but not the fundamentals of country swing, (2) dancers coming from other styles, and (3) students from the 1A class who want to step up their basics before moving into Level 2. The content we cover each month is similar, and is responsive to the students in the class. If you're thinking about 1A instead, here's the description: the 1A class is designed for absolute beginners to country swing and people with little to no dance experience. In addition to the regular dance content, we also take time to work on basic movement and balance skills. We cover the same content each month. Tuesday Nights 7:00pm-7:50pm Cost: $50 for 4-week session Mini FAQ: I occasionally get asked what to wear (clothes and shoes). For clothes, I recommend you wear something you feel comfortable in and that you can move in. I have students show up in sweatpants and a t-shirt. I have students that show up in a suit and tie. It's your preference. For shoes, I ask you to bring footwear to switch into, especially during the winter, so we don’t get mud or snow tracked into our studio floors. I recommend you wear shoes you feel comfortable moving in. Often for students that is something that allows them to spin on the floor when they are on the balls of their feet (important for both leads and follows in country swing). You are totally welcome to wear socks.
